- A shalwar kameez is a traditional outfit originating from Central/ South Asia and is a general term to describe different styles of dresses
- It can be worn by both women and men, but the styles differ for each gender
- It is two garments (dress and pants)
- The women clothing are unique because of the well handmade embroidery and design
- Women wear long dresses made with a cotton fabric and various colours (kameez)
- The kameez is traditionally modest, but more modern versions are less modest
- Underneath they wear matching pants (shalwar)
- The pants legs are wide at the top and narrow at the bottom
- The dress also comes with a head scarf (hijab)
- It also comes with a purse and a flat pair of shoes called paizar
- For outer clothing, especially in winter, women like to wear hip length jackets ("Traditional" 2012)

Henna
- Henna is a flowering plant and is used to dye hair or decorate the body.
- It had been practiced for many years in places around the world (India, Pakistan, Africa, and the Middle East).
- Since henna has natural cooling properties, it has been used to cool down bodies.
- It has many roles some being for medicinal purposes and other for cultural.
- Many Muslim cultures use henna because it still allows for them to pray unlike using nail polish would.
- In Afghanistan, henna is traditionally used for weddings called Henna Night.
